Dorian Stern’s career history is a testimonial to her adaptive nature and strengths as a strategic planner, critical thinking and compelling communicator.  Ms. Stern launched her corporate career as Director of Corporate Sales for a 1.8 billion dollar computer technology distributor. After 14 years, Ms. Stern was solicited by a nationally recognized cosmetics manufacturer to participate in the launch and distribution of their salon line as Regional VP of Business Development. Ms. Stern then assumed the role of VP of Corporate Communications and Sales for an environmental restoration firm that specialized in handling large-scale remediation projects like 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and other natural and man-made disasters.

Though highly successful in securing relationships of profit and value during her corporate tenure, Ms. Stern opted to make a personal choice to transfer her business acumen and redirect her career objectives towards the Non-Profit sector in 2001.

The transition came at a perfect time, as many NFP’s were accepting the fact that in order to cultivate meaningful and measurable relationships with both individual donors and corporate sponsors, they needed to find qualified personnel that could articulate and incorporate the business strategies from the for-profit sector and make them work in this “mission focused” arena.

Ms. Stern is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) and has held the title of Director of Development for social welfare, arts, and research based healthcare organizations. Ms. Stern understands that the modern approaches and the inevitable success in fundraising, donor relations, sponsorships and other methods of support and engagement are largely based on one’s ability to foster trust and transparency with prospects. Ms. Stern has been a frequent contributor and presenter on the topic of Donor Centric Fundraising, Prospect Research and Cause Related Marketing strategies which strives to blend philanthropy with a company’s brand, product or service, thereby providing opportunities of mutual benefit.  We welcome Ms. Stern’s talents and contributions in making the FCLU a potent force for change.
